Rehearsal Information
What are rehearsals like?
Oveview:
To help us make the rehearsal process work for the entire cast and team, please:
Rehearsal Schedule:
At each rehearsal, we'll be teaching specific parts to specific people; if you're supposed to be there, and you're not, then we have to teach it to you at another time - this affects everyone else in the cast by putting us behind. Of course, we'll work around emergencies when they come up.
- In an effort to respect everyone's personal time after school, we will create an efficient rehearsal schedule in a way that will minimize student's "just sitting around" time.
- The list of exact cast members needed at each rehearsal will be listed each week on the Drama Calendar.
To help us make the rehearsal process work for the entire cast and team, please:
- Be at every rehearsal for which you are called.
- Bring your script, highlighter, and water to each rehearsal.
- Arrive 5 minutes before start time, so you're ready to go at the start time.
- Have your snack and use the bathroom BEFORE rehearsal.
- Communicate with us - ahead of time - of any unavoidable conflicts (eg. medical). You can use the "Conflict Form" on this website on your Parent Area page.
- Rehearsals will be held after school at various times, depending on conflicts. We may also have a few weekend rehearsals which would begin late afternoons. Exact times will be posted on the calendar.
- Not everyone will need to be at every rehearsal. Those with larger roles will need to be at more rehearsals than others.
- The Rehearsal Schedule can be found on the Drama Calendar from the website's main menu.. It will be created at least 1 week in advance as much as possible. As long as everyone communicates their conflicts, the schedule shouldn't change within that week.
- It's important that we have everyone's conflicts as soon as you know of them, and AT LEAST 1 week ahead of time.
- All rehearsals will start promptly at the published starting time. We take pride in being respectful of everyone's time, and will start AND end ON TIME. So this means students are in their seats ready to go by the START time; and we'll make sure we dismiss you on time, too!
- The week leading up to the show is called “Tech Week”, and everyone will be called to every rehearsal. These are usually 3-5 hour rehearsals, so plan ahead for a long week!!
WHAT'S THE COMMITMENT?
- Rehearsals will be held roughly 2-3 times/week after school - but not everyone will be called to every rehearsal.
- We may also have 1 or 2 FULL CAST Sunday rehearsals throughout the process, depending on conflicts.
- We try to make the rehearsal schedule as consistent as possible from week to week.
- The schedule will usually be posted at least 1 week in advance.
- LEAD ROLES: Being a "Lead" will require MORE rehearsals, so be sure you're able to commit to the rehearsals before accepting your role.
- Once you are CAST in the show you must attend all of the rehearsals for which you're scheduled.
- If you have weekly conflicts you must let us know ahead of time - during audition signups, if possible.
